Lesson Plan
Topic: Gender stereotyping
Aim: This activity is aimed at helping pupils to identify stereotypes when we are choosing careers and jobs.
Download: Activity to Accompany WiSET Posters.

A set of posters is needed for this activity. To receive a free set, email info@ukrc4setwomen.org.

Wider Horizons Work Placement programme
Girls tend to choose stereotypical work placements and what we aim to do is to add more job opportunities to the usual list they would consider. We work with schools to look at getting more girls into non-traditional work placements. If you would like further information about the scheme, contact:
Jill Collins on 0114 225 4675.

Industrial Visits
Your school may be able to organise an industrial visit to a local engineering or construction company. This can be a great way of inspiring girls to think about careers in these fields.

SETNET Ambassador Scheme
Would you like to have someone working in engineering or science visit your school? Visit the SETNET website and invite an 'Ambassador' to act as a role model and assist with practical activities in the classroom. Think about getting a mix of male and female ambassadors; having a female role model is inspiring and is one way of getting girls thinking about going into a career in SECT.
